His time here was way too short…but we had an amazing time.

So, here was my status on my FB page:

It’s like just yesterday we were getting ready to go pick him up… now we’re all dreading going to sleep because we’ll have to drop him off at the airport in the morning. It was just WAY TOO SHORT a time! We have taken advantage of every possible second and we’re celebrating our birthdays with him for breakfast since he won’t be around for them next year. Tough night here. Please keep the girls, DH, and I in prayer. None of us gets used to this. This plain out sucks! Sorry to be so bummy. :(

*****************************************

That being said…This won’t last… the girls and I (and DH, where he’s at) always push through and keep going, but I guess it’s normal to feel how we’re feeling, so it’s all good for now. I would LOVE to recap some of the stuff we’ve got to do though. It was a GREAT leave period with him at home. :) We have so many memories to look back on. It’s been so awesome!

We first picked him up at the airport in Orlando. It worked out wonderfully since the girls were “on hold” waiting to hear back about some call backs and shoot dates in the area. We got a resort and figured we would hang around there while we waited. The girls LOVED spending time with dad at the water park at the resort. And, since we were there for our anniversary, and we WERE going to get married in Medieval Times (that was the plan before 911, which changed everything for us— as for so many other military couples– and we ended up having to go to the courthouse before he was suddenly deployed), we decided to celebrate there with the girls. We have spent more anniversaries apart from each other than together during our 11 years being married. This anniversary was simply PERFECT! :)

We also got to spend some time at Downtown Disney, go to the movies, Hollywood studios, and Seaworld. Thankfully, we already had the Disney tickets (grateful for the monthly payment plan for FL residents!) and Seaworld graciously gives military members and dependents 1 annual free ticket to any of their parks per year (as of me writing this anyway– always check to make sure those offers are still available of course).

My oldest daughter was able to get her military ID, which she has anxiously waiting for, but didn’t want to go get it till Dad got home and could go with her. And, when the girls where booked to shoot in both a faith based film in Nashville and a Disney commercial at Epcot, DH was able to not only be there but ended up doing the shoot with them! What an amazing experience for us all! DH had never actually been on set with the girls or really got to see what they do. This was super exciting.

I had started working ripping out the carpet a few months (yes MONTHS) ago… with us going in and out of town… it’s taken a while… and I’m still not done. So DH was also able to help me a little with this project. AND, he got to experience how from one minute to the next we could be getting an email or call and out of town we go for a shoot or something and the home projects end up taking longer. :)

We even  got to drive to Miami and visit my parents, GM, sister, and my aunt– who had been able to fly in for a last minute, not planned, visit. My youngest sister drove down too…and for about a day and half the who family was together and we even got to schedule a VERY LAST MINUTE family photo shoot… amazing how God worked that out for us ALL to be there at the same time.  And, we even got to go to a “Dive In” movie with my dad and one of my sisters. The girls love those. :)

The morning we had to take DH to the airport, we woke up and were able to have breakfast together..and we even got to “celebrate” the girls’ birthdays for 2013, since he won’t be with us till next summer.

In the middle of all going on… we got to have meals TOGETHER! We got to just drive and be able to hold hands. We got to be in the same room and just glance over and smile at each other. We got to be able to go up to each other and HUG! I even got to do his laundry for him the night before he left… and it was AWESOME! :)

We got to enjoy each other SO much! We got to spend some good amount of time together and just the four of us…which hasn’t really happened much. We LOVED it! :) It felt GREAT!

Now to wait till next summer when we will see him again…. we are already counting the days… :)

Here are some pics of our time together:

Drive Cross-Country With Us!

Hello everyone! In the last post I started to tell you a little about what has been keeping me so busy over the past few months. Today I invite you to come along on our cross-country drive from Florida to California. We started out of Jacksonville, which is at the far North East corner of the state. We pretty much got on the I-10 and headed West! (That’s pretty all you do to get to CA… take the I-10 ALL the way!)

Here are some of the pics we took as we drove through all the beautiful Southern states on the way there and back… All I can say is:

“Great are the works of the Lord;
they are pondered by all who delight in them.” Psalm 111:2 — The whole drive was breathtaking!

On the way there:

We left LATE at night, got to Alabama before Sunrise…

Sun came up in Mississippi!

Louisiana where we had some Beignets for breakfast! YUM!

Made it to Texas!

Ellie enjoying the drive!

Ally enjoying the drive too!!

Somewhere in Texas

AND Somewhere in Texas, before the sunset on us as we crossed New Mexico, Arizona, and got into California.

On the way back:

We made it to Palm Springs in the early morning!

The girls were SOOO excited to see REAL Cacti! We didn’t get to see all this on the way there because we crossed Arizona at night.

New Mexico in the day time! Very cool rock formations throughout.

Somewhere in Texas…

More Texan scenery

Louisiana….

Crossing the Mississippi River!

Sunset behind us as we drive back to Florida!

We REALLY enjoyed the drive, the trip, the experience! One of my sisters was able to go with us and it was so great and fun. Thank you for coming virtually coming along with us on the drive. Look for a future post, at some point, to see some of what we did while in California.

Thanks again, and please don’t forget to check out my daughter’s FB Fan Page… we will be using that to update those interested of any projects she works on. :)
